Inside the church of the restored Old Mission, at Old Mission State Park, Cataldo, Idaho, USA. Old Mission State Park is a National Historic Landmark in northern Idaho. It is also known as the Mission of the Sacred Heart or Cataldo Mission. It is the oldest standing building in Idaho. The church was built under the direction of Jesuit priests who had been invited by the Coeur d'Alene Indians to their land because the natives thought the priests had special powers. The walls are of mud and straw. No nails were used and much was improvised such as making the chandelier out of old tin cans.
